Default Knocking..need opinions

Well my car started having a slight knock under load about a month ago, and I thought it was the cats. I swapped to an o/r pipe and the knock is still there. You can't really hear it until the car is fully warmed up, and it is now knocking at idle as well as when accelerating/decelerating. Mechanic couldn't diagnose what the exact issue was without tearing everything down and i cant pay it right now. From you guy's experience, does this sound like rod knock to you, or maybe rod bearings going out? If so, what's the best route to take care of it. Rebuild it or get another motor? Can it be fixed with the motor in the car? Any additives to quiet it down for the time being? I'm a college student so I can't afford to spend an a**load on it, just need to get from point A to B. Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.

edit: i'll try to get some video or audio of this after work.

Leave the car off, you can still save the crank possibly, as well as a couple other components. At least you don't have a spun bearing, that's what I got a year ago..

daily driver, don't really have a choice. found a Bullitt motor here in town with decently low mileage for 1500 with the intake and accessories so I may be goin for that.

Yeah, I feel ya man.. My car is my ride everywhere. I ended up forking over 5k at the dealership for a factory fresh motor with a 3 year warranty though.. I am now going to school UNDER that 3 year warranty! lol

I would be curious to know what exactly happened to your motor to yield all that metal on the plug. Couldn't have been a bearing.
