Where are you going to be storing it? If it is going to be inside a garage then it might be a good idea to run a dehumidifier to keep any excess moisture out of the area. Moisture can damage many things on a vehicle that is sitting for a long period of time. Pay close attention to the tires while it is being stored. The tires tend to dry rot, crack and deflate while a vehicle is stationary for a significant amount of time. They may also develop dead spots. Some people flush and fill all fluids BEFORE they store the vehicle and then do it again when they put it back on the road but I think that is a bit overkill. Instead, maybe you should check all the fluids before you store it to be sure that they are full and in good condition then flush and fill them when you put the car back on the road. Fluids are a factor that many people not only overlook but take too lightly. Fresh and full fluids can make or break your vehicles longevity and they take a beating when they've been sitting for a while. I also think it is vital to let the car run every so often if you can and maybe even move it a little so that the tires aren't sitting on the exact same areas for the entire time, this will also prevent dead spots in the tires. When I had my Z28 I stored it outdoors all winter. I checked all the fluids before I parked it and removed any parts that may take a beating from sitting. For example I removed the wheels and replaced them with the stockers and a set of crappy tires. I also got a goodcover. If it is stored outsidebe sure to get acover that protects the vehicle from UV rays as well as harsh weather conditions. I've seen paint jobs take a beating due to cheap car covers that only protect the vehicle from water. I tried toget out and run my car for at least15-20 minutes atidleeverycouple of weeks and I alsotook it for a ride up and down the street whenever it was nice enough to get it out on the road. Give it a good wash before you store it too to get off any excess dust, dirt and debris. Check the engine compartment ona regular basistoo for critters, especially if it is being stored outside. Squirels, mice, chipmunks etc. love to form little nests under the hoods of vehicles that haven't been run in a while. One little tip too, don't pull the E-brake all the way because if it is sitting for a while with the E-brake pulled to the max it mayfreeze up and if it is an automatic then just go without the E-brake.

I'm glad I live in Houston! The coldest it gets here is about 30 degrees, and that's if we're lucky.....

Do you have a block heater? When I went to Canada a few years ago, I was driving around my friend's car, and I noticed it had a plug hanging out of the engine compartment, and I was like wtf? I'd never seen one before then.

I had 2 block heaters and a battery blanket in my last car. Started great at -35*C. On real cold, crisp nights you can hear the block heaters.
