Default "Lifter clatter"

Trying again, original thread disappeared...

'04 GT, almost 50,000 miles, full with 5-20 syn blend oil:

On cold start-up, sometimes after only 4-5 hours, I hear what can best be described as "lifter clatter". Sorta like a push rod motor with hydraulic lifters that's low on oil.

It lasts only a second or two and then sounds normal.

Wondering if the timing chain tensioner(s) could be faulty? Is this a common issue with the 4.6?

Thanks!
Dwain

Mods, the OP said someone deleted his post a couple days ago for some reason, so leave this one here.

I'd say if it goes away after a couple seconds, there's nothing to worry about. There is a sticky for lifter noise. Let me see if I can find it.

It's just that I have three friends with Mustangs (GT, Mach & Cobra) and none of them make the noise.

Thanks!
