LOL...You would have thought someone/something at Ford would have caught on sooner than midway through 2001 to fix that issue. Especially considering it had been happening since at LEAST 1996...mayber earlier. I don't know if some of the early Vics/Marquis had the same intake when the 4.6 was introduced on them in '92.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but would there be a reason why my alternator bracket doesn't fit on the new intake? The one I had was the one with one of the intake-side bolt-holes offset from the other while the two alternator bolts were aligned.

Any idea where I could find the part?

Can you post pics.

PI intake will have the first runner going to the driverside. Non-PI the first runner goes to the passenger side.

I think I'm just gonna drill a hole in the bracket so that it fits in the current intake, and use it until I find the right part. Shouldn't take too long.

Now, my question is about gaskets. The dealership nearest my house doesn't have any in stock. Nearest autoparts store that carries it is a good 20 miles away. Now, I am willing to drive there for the overpriced gaskets because I need my car working soon, but I wonder if I can get away with the "make a gasket" stuff.

Thoughts?

this is prob a dead thread, but to anwser the last post absolutly not. it might work but i wouldn't trust the seal. on mine i put a light film of the gasket maker on the gasket itself to insure a good seal. also you have the prices all wrong. ford dealership=incredibly overpriced vs autoparts store= fel-pro gaskets at a cheaper price. so it would be worth driving 20 miles for the gaskets and they are most likely in stock.

I also have this saved, not quite sure why, but it's in my foxmarks, if you had any other questions...
