Default Chips vs. Tuner

Im doing my PI swap two weeks from this weekend and im going to need a tune. There isnt any place that can tune good around here where i live. I dont want to drive an hour and a half on an untuned car. So the place where i got all my stuff said they can burn me a chip to all the mods i have done and that will serve as a tune when i put it in. So would that work as opposed to driving somewhere and then paying some guy to tune it at his shop ?? The place that said they can burn me the chip was Brothers Performance out of California. I think there a great store.

Nothing is better then getting tuned in person. The chip will probably get it close, but a tune is really inorder. No 2 motors are exactly the same.

What about a hand held tuner? Will that be just as good?

Nope, you really need to go to a dyno, playing with a handheld should really be done on the dyno to ensure proper A/F.

I would hate to spend all the money just to wreak it because it wasn't tuned right.
