NEW CLUTCH

NEW CLUTCH
I own a 2000 GT and its time for a new clutch, the car has stage 2 comp cams, JLT cai, underdrive pullies, typhoon intake manifold, BBK long tubes, BBk x pipe, flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and a tune. The car should be making about 310 to 320ft/lbs with out nitrous. I will be using nitrous once in a while. The car has now a spec stage 1 clutch on, it was put on the car a year ago by the old owner and it´s already slipping badly, the flywheel was resurfaced back then. Now here is my question, should I get a spec stage 1? stage 2? stage 1 and aluminum flywheel? stage and steel flywheel? is it necessary to replace the flywheel or I can resurface it again?

Just take the flywheel to a shop and see if they can turn it. Or just buy a new steel one, they're not that expensive. If the stage 1 clutch went in 1 year... you either have "difficulties" driving or you need more clutch.
But if you're going to be spraying I would probably get at least a stage 2.

well...I got the car 3 months ago and the clutch already was worn out but was not slipping, the cheapest steel wheel I have found costs $270, but I can buy a new friction plate,I dont know if it will fit the one I have right now. That would only cost me $90.

With your hp, that clutch should have plenty left in it. Either you are very hard on your car or your mistaken about your power. I lean towards the former. Any clutch, even the $100 clutches on ebay should have no problem with 310hp, which is my suggestion along with resurfacing the flywheel.

as I said, I havent had this car for too long, I dont drive it hard at all...well only once in a while :P...maybe the previous owner did not replace the clutch a year ago as he said he did, who knows...but yeah I think I´m going to go with a spec stage 1, will it slip on nitrous though? if it does, it doesnt really matter, I wont be using nitrous a lot...I just dont want to have to replace the clutch again in like a year...with long tubes its a pain in the ***...

Most likely the culprit will be the previous owner. Spec full face clutches werent ever that great to begin with. Their stage 1 and 2's are notorious for blowing or being just plain crappy.
Now their multi puck designs are awsome. I have a stage three that i bought after i drove my buddies stage 3 equipped stang. Theses 6 puck stage 3's are the way to go man.
I spray a 100 shot on radials on a basically stock motor otherwise.
I would use an aluminum flywheel if you have the money but otherwise the steel one would be just fine.
