Yeah...but my cruise control isn't working either (something I dare not *** with) so I am hoping the end justifies the means.

About the window motor...I hear the motor working fine, it's the part it connects to that is no longer attached. Would it be easier to try and repair the broken linkage or best to replace the unit (motor & connected parts) as a whole? (I have no idea what the door guts look like). Any chance of finding an image of that? Would like to see before I dive in. (If that's what I decide to do)

I might get home and realize I am SOL. My time of reference in relation to my warranty is foggy.

Now this is the only problem keeping the car from being inspected. Anyone else have some advise or insight to this window repair before I dig in this weekend?

Got this same problem, you probably need a new window regulator assembly. On my car, the gear that the window motor sprocket connects to (it's a curved piece of steel, with teeth, about 7" long) which is tack welded to the regulator, broke off. I'm told that if you try to weld it back on that it will most likely warp. So, latemodelrestoration.com has the regulator for like $60 or $70, and service manual calls for 0.7 hrs. labor to fix. My shop quoted me like $51 out the door (I'm providing parts). Due to how the glass is secured in the track (heavy silicone adhesive at I think three locations), and also the lack of space to get your hands in there and work, I'm gonna pay to have it done rather than risk breaking the glass and creating another headache.

Aaah ok. Thx for the info. I am certain the motor is still good so hopefully the regulator is all I need. I'm gonna go DIY on this one.

FYI www.rockauto.com has the WLR55 part for $55 shipped.

EDIT: I just called my local Ford shop. They sell the regulator for $80.60 list. I know I can discount it down to at least $50 and I can pick ip up tomorrow. May be worth checking in to.

Oh and I myself need a door panel insert, which latemodelrest sells for $47. Local Ford sells for $48 list. latemodelrest is a rip off!

This is exactly what was wrong with my regulator. It broke the tack weld. It took me and my ASE friend about 45min to fix. Careful if you have tint on your windows cuz I have a few tiny knicks in mine now.

FYI if you know someone at Ford, you can get the OEM for $60 or less on a cash ticket.

Thx for the input guys. She's finally back on the road with a brand spankin' new 03/11 inspection sticker on it!
