Default Spark Plugs

I was just curious how many people on here torque their plugs b/c noone i work does or where i previously worked and nobody ever seemed to have any problems. Now how many of you ever had a plug blow out of the head like I said above im just curious.

i torque mine but know people who don't with no issues. if your plugs blow out it probably has nothing to do with how they were torqued though. Even on the plug box it says something like hand tighten then do 3/4 of a turn or something like that

thats what a lot of people said when I asked them but they also said that they think its from not being tight and backing out but i saw a mustang i beleave it was a 99 or 00 but it had right at 175,000 miles with the factory plugs and he had one blow out that was factory installed if that says anything

I always use a torque wrench--then again I'm an old mechanical engineer that was taught to do things properly...

Well he said he never had any trouble with so he never changed them. Now I had a 01 tahoe come in with 218,000 miles never had the plugs replaced and they looked pretty good. A guy i work with had a 95 chevy 1500 with 250,000 on it and his plugs looked good too. So if it isnt broke dont fix it

I changed my plugs myself this past spring without using a torque wrench and I'm catching hell because of it now........Had 1 plug blow around Thanksgiving and another last week.
Had the shop plugs torqued properly.

You can't compare Chevy heads to our short threaded heads.
