Default 96 V8 Overheating

I have 1996 4.6 V8 16valve mustang. I am having problems with it overheating. When the car is running at normal temp. and then shut off, it shoots coolant out of the over flow located on top of the radiator. I have already replaced the thermostat with an after market thermostat. Any ideas?

Could be the water pump is going or gone and won't allow the water to circulate properly throughout the cooling system. This will make your engine consistently overheat. I personally use a 180 degree thernostat and that helps me run cooler in the summer but still gives me plenty of heat in the winter. Also relieves pressure build up to some extent to keep from blowing gaskets and cracking plastic manifolds.
