Angry Stripped Bell housing bolt!

Ok guys, Im trying to remove the tranny from the engine. I've got all the (13mm) bolts off from the bell housing except for top right one (passenger side); it's nearly impossible to get off. I tried it with long extensions from under the car and from the top with a wrench by the intake, but I still managed to strip it . So, how would I get this PITA bolt to come off when it's at this difficult location? Like it's nearly impossible to drill, or ez out, or vice etc.. this bolt.

See if you can get some pics, I would have just suggested one of these. But if you don't think you can get one of those in there idk

If you have enough room, and you probably dont, there are a few different specialty sockets that can be used. ***HERE*** is one I found on a quick search, but you could also try a "standard" socket like a 1/2" 12pt. or so and hammer it on there.

Good luck

Jazzer..... pullin' for his pepes

I agree with defcon. My question is: did you strip the hex? so that there are no more edges to grip?

I know those bolts are difficult to get to, but once you get it remember in the future to make sure you are securely on the bolt before you apply torque, sometimes if I get frustrated I just leave the car for a few min. and slam a beer then go back at it that's my best advice

yes i did strip the hex. but not completely i'd say about 50% round, but its not completely even. some of the edges are ugly mangled... i tried a similar socket that "digs into" but then it just "ripped" into some of the edges. i pulled out the socket and there were little pieces of metal. maybe i didn't align it right? also, the problem is that it takes a high amount of torque. i used a 1ft breaker 3/8 pushing with my legs and still wouldn't budge. I'm thinking about the cammed version socket but i think it might break from the high torque.

Well, if the bolt breaks, you will then be able to remove the trans (bell housing) and have much better access in which to apply vice-grips or something.

You may consider grinding the head off to accomplish just that.
