Default Mach 1 Grill Issues

Did Ford originally use some type of fastener to attach the four plastic studs on the bottom of the grill delete lower trim piece? I read that some people had used double sided tape or screwed into the piece using nylon spacers. Is there any other way to do it that does not possibly compromise the paints finish or integrity of the trim piece? Thanks for the help!

Any thoughts on how to keep the trim piece down in the middle so that there is not a gap between it and the fascia?

I keep hearing about that space! My grille delete is flushed and fits perfect. It's an 04GT if it matters. Installed in 15mins and fits wonderfully.

I've heard of some people using some of the 3m trim/emblem foam tape.

My grille is perfect also, it had 2 huge tabs that are very tight to get around the bumper, but once they were on, it holds it down perfectly.

Yeah it looks like the aftermarket grill deletes have two large tabs on the bottom to hold it down, although the original Ford grill has four smooth plastic studs that go into the holes where the honeycomb grill mounts. Looking back I kind of wish I had the one with the two tabs. I really do not want to use double sided tape, because if I ever want to remove the grill, that tape is going to be a pain in the *** and might mess up the paint. Any other thoughts or experiences are greatly appreciated.
