Default strange noise

Well if anyone remembers I recently blew up my old motor in my car I have a new one in there now.

While I was driving around with the new engine it sounded like my pinion was looses on my car, it made weird rattling/grinding sounds every time i had in gear at low RPMs and would go away as soon as i gave it some gas. Took the rear end apart to make sure none of the bearings came loose after my 600whp experiment gone bad.

Everything was fine no metal shavings put everything back together with thicker c clips and shims to give it less play and re adjusted the back lash to spec. To make a long story short after putting it back together the noise reduced somewhat but still remains. Also when I got the car back there was some serious back and forth play on the drive shaft about 1/4 of an inch or so and now there is none at all but the noise still remains. any ideas?

I also have a spec stage 2 clutch installed would that cause the low RPM noises???

So you checked all the bearings and races and didnt see any signs of pitting or "rumble strips"

When you put the pinion in, you set the pre-load correct? You didnt just crank it down?

I had a similar issue, when I let off the gas at higher speeds I had a horrible grinding rubbing sound. Turns out my UPR control arms were the wrong length, and my pinion angle was all kinds of messed up. Check your u-joints on the d-shaft and check pinion angle.

^ yeap everything looked brand new no pits what so ever, the backlash was at .012 thousands spec calls out between .008 and .012 and was preloaded correctly. Its a new FRRP Drive shaft about a year old only 10K miles and everything looked fine.

Also when I first put on my rear control arms on last year I had a similar noise but only in 5th gear at low RPM's, the problem was solved by tightening the pinion just a smidgen. Now its making a very similar noise in comparison to the one I used to have in 5th only its in every single gear now.

Think it might be the tranny and the noise is being resonated by the drive shaft so it sounds like its coming from the rear end>?

I also forgot to add that the noise is also present when I start the engine, for example once the motor turns over it creates the sound. I kicked in the clutch today while it was making the noise and it went away as soon as i kicked the clutch in so I have no idea just throwing that info out there, seems like there is something loose but I have no idea what, thanks!

Askin for a noise diag over the internet is next to impossible. Try to get a video or something
