Isn't it faster (in drag terms) to build up a stalled auto?

I'd say I spent about 48 hours doing my swap, however, I put a TR-3650 in my 96 and I had to cut my cross member in 3 pieces and kick the center section back 3 inches and welded it back and gusseted it. I also had to make the transmission tunnel opening bigger so the shifter housing would not rub. My car had a couple of other issues along the way because the radiator developed a leak in the side tank w/o the trans lines. That was also doing it with out any type of direction on where stuff was located. That time also includes the time I spent trying to find the right tools because I was working in my uncles garage and wasnt familiar where everything was.

There is a lot of debate over this issue but in my opinion I cannot answer that question accurately as I do not drag race my car. I think when it comes down to reliability at the track to run consistently over a long period of time the automatic will do better than a 5 speed. A 5 speed could be better if it had the driver mod.

For the street and road racing the 5 speed is the best choice. Its more fun to drive a standard transmission car. The reason I did my swap was because my automatic proved not to be reliable, car was unmodified and the transmission bit the dust with the cruise control set at 70mph so I went the high road and decided to put in a reliable transmission imo

you can get every part you need off of a wrecked car. I suggest though at the minimum of buying a new clucth cable, resurfacing the flywheel.

When you start going faster, yes, the auto is better the faster you go and the more power you have.

it is especially good with turbos because it keeps in boost the entire time

I would think a GT with a nice stall, j mod, 4.10s gears would run faster than the same car with a manual trans and 4.10s

I dont know why anyone gets rid of the auto.

My car is ri-****ing-diculous with the 3800 stall and blower

Manual transmissions rock and are more fun to drive.

Where did you get your stall and how much did it cost?
