It's a lot of money and s really just for looks.

If you dont mind spending the money for looks and a decent intake then do it. But if you just want a decent intake get a Tunable Induction.

Where do you get these kits? I saw them a long time ago but don't remember where. I think if I could get my hands on one for 600-700 range I would do it for looks.

I have got one as you may know, and I love it! But not for the reasons that you might think. I got mine because I like to see the classic mustang styling hues alive and used in the newer age mustangs. So for me it completed the look I wanted, along with adding a exterior dress up item, a under hood dress up item, and a little functionallity, and performance, and sure better than the GT hood scoop. lol.

The posts before me are right though. I have not noticed any difference in performance, and it would only be at the speeds they talked about. You also have to think of the added weight with the shaker. But mainly the air has to take a complete 180 degree turn and then just be led down to a filter. So the engine can't really suck air in.

To answer your question about performance I don't think this is what you are looking for. And for the $1200 you say it will cost, I think you could get a lot more performance items that you will get more results from. As for me and what I was looking for it suits me perfect, and the $795 for me was a steal! I might not get much performance out of it, but boy does that baby shake!
