Default safest way to up HP?

I just got a P-1SC 3 core procharger kit installed. My question is is it safer to up the HP via cranking up the boost or by swapping out parts? (ex. Bigger throttle body, Bigger intake manifold etc)

If you have a good tune and the internals can handle it. What numbers are you wanting?

the throttle body and stuff. it makes your motor more effiecitent and that way puts less stress on the internals rather than uping the boost. but you could up the boost and have a good tune and it'd be fine that way too

Not sure what your current rwhp numbers but good tune is essential. With stock bottom end, you are better off increasing power with LT headers or blower cams than swapping a pulley since these parts actually decrease overall compression within your motor meaning less strain on valvetrain etc. I wouldn't go more than 10 lbs on stock internals and would pay it safe recommend 9 psi or less. Anything more than 8 psi i would add an innercooler which would allow for more power as well.

There's nothing in your garage so I really don't know what parts you currently have or how far your pushing the stock rods and pistons now. But, in general, the worst thing you can do is just increase the boost and expect the stock rods and pistons to hold. People have successfully increased horsepower by installing headers, o/r mid-pipe and supercharger cams. The tune, of course, is critical. At this point safe is a relative term. You're already pushing things beyond stock performance. The further you go the more risk is involved. You are not going to run 450 rwhp on stock rods and pistons and be perfectly safe.

I currently have bbk LT's/ bbk catted X-pipe/ borla mufflers/ Procharger P-1SC 3 core intercooler kit. I'm looking to get about 500rwhp out of her before calling it a day or the most I can get with out having to do major work like a forged shortblock and stuff like that. I don't mind doing pistons and rods but the entire job may end up being too expensive for me.

good luck on a stock block
360-400whp is a safe number for the stock block, depending on the dyno, with a good tune and no all out hi speed freeway blasts. if you want more youll have a ticking time bomb under your hood. stock rods and pistons cant handle much. add a tb/plenum and an afm power pipe for more hp, but i would say get some suspension work. if you cant hook up then all that power wont mean poop. sub frame connectors i would say are a must for a hi hp car.

your not getting 500rwhp on the stock block. it may run a day or 2 but it will just be a matter of time.

Forged pistons and rods are primarily what make a forged short block. For 500 rwhp you are going to have to crack open the motor. You will probably need forged rods and pistons, cams, springs, ported heads, about 14 psi on the supercharger, 60 lb injectors and twin fuel pumps. You may want to upgrade your P-1SC to a D-1SC. Last time I called ProCharger the upgrade was $1800.

The stock crank is supposed to be good to around 650 hp. the stock intake to around 600 hp.
