Breaking gears in .......

RE: Breaking gears in .......
I dont think you have to heat cycle them. I'm sure if you did then Ford Racing, Richmond, or whoever you got them from would say somthing about it, and tell you exactly how to do it. I bought 3.73's for my old 96 GT, never heat cycled them, and drove the hell out of it with no problems for over 40k miles. My current gear setup it doing just fine as well.

Hey 98GT Mustang and pete1665 will you both please record your 70 mph rpm's for me? I have a 96 GT and am not sure if I have stock gears in my car. The guy I bought it from had no idea what had been done to the car, he just purchased it from his newphew who was in need of some cash. If you could please get those #'s for me I would greatly appreciate it.

BTW.....Break your gears in.....don't be stupid like ^^^^^^ those guys. The new gears have to mesh and adapt to their surroundings. Just take it easy for a few hundred miles, then you are good to go.
