Default Heads

Is getting heads redone at a machine performance shop as good as buying say patriot or trickflow heads.

I don't know a whole lot about heads, but I think that if the shop working on your heads is a good shop and familiar with Mustangs then you should be able to get something comparable to what Patriot sells. Patriot (and everywhere else's) heads are basically milled/reworked stock castings, the Trick Flow's are so far the only new (not OEM) casting, and those things are supposed to be bad ***. The various write ups I've seen so far in the Mustang mags (MM&FF, 5.0) are basically saying that the Trick Flow's are worth about 20-30 h.p. more than Patriot's or other's reworked stock castings.
