i have installed most things on my car minus gears and pullies. the only thing is this is something i can't afford to screw up

Yeah the only thing that I didn't do myself was tinting and gears. I'm believe that I'd have somebody do my wet kit when/if the time ever comes. $1000 doesn't sound bad if it includes experienced tuning. Of course you can always save more $$$ by do it yourself but not everybody can. I could probably do it but it would involve duct tape, tie wire and things of that nature!

that sounds about right. a local shop here charges like 350 for just the basic NX kit. 500 if you have a purge and the NX safety kit. they charge 80 per gauge. they're not hard to install, but they're just very time consuming is what i'm told.
