Default BBK Shorty question

Did anyone have a problem with these headers not lining up with the stock H pipe on the drivers side? I have this thing tightened with an impact not only by me but midas as well and its still has a leak.. do i just need to get the "donut" seal?

Also, on sort of an unrelated topic.. What else would I need to do to replace my stock auto trans with a 5speed? I know I will need the shifter and boot with gasket to replace the straight shifter.. but will I also need a new computer? Im thinking so.. a junkyard could supply that though.

Some thoughts..

It's always a good idea 2 replace the gasket. What r they like $15-20. Thats not much 2 know that u don't have to take the pipe loose again later, but if ur going 2 b changing the mid pipe out soon I wouldn't worry with it till then.

The seal on the drivers side is a compression seal. I replaced the passenger side gasket.

np, I'm just asking because it looks like there is a slight misalignment with the header and the pipe. Seems like the left side doesn't seat properly. After dealing with midas on the lift and looking and hitting it with the impact about 10 times I still have a minor leak.. driving me insane. But the headers do sound good, have to admitt.

So anyone gonna comment on the auto to manual conversion.. $700 is an ok price for a tranny.. of course I would hook it up, just curious on what it would take for anyone who has done it.

It could just b like u said misaligned enough that just taken that side loose and tryin again if u haven't already. So r going 2 change mid pipes any time soon? That may b another way 2 fix the leak

I had a similar problem, my fix was to loosen the rear of the mids and then bolt the front to the headers down first then connect the rear. Hope its that easy for you.
