i have a 02 mustang gt and i was wanting to do the 5.4l lightning engine swap and i was wondering what manual transmission to get that is strong enough to hold up to the power and where to get it at

I assume you're using a manual transmission now. In my opinion it all depends on the other modifications you are gonna do to the car. I think the stock trans will hold up fine if you're gonna stay naturally aspirated or lightly boosted. What do you have in mind?

my transmission right now is AT and im planning in going the whole 10 yards different cams ported and polished heads 3.73 differential so im going to need a hell of a transmission lol

I did a 5.4 in my 03 GT. It also has the automatic trans. I just had it upgraded by a trans shop. I also threw in a Transgo transpak and it was fine even with 15lbs of boost.

how how was that? and also wondering did you take off your exhaust manifold and put headers on and if you did what headers fit
