Default Got the "system running too lean" code...

Hey guys,

I've got the mods listed in my sig below. The code came on yesterday, cleared it once, drove around for about 25 minutes and everything that was read out onto our little reader showed normal levels for fuel pressure and the sort.

Then this afternoon it came on again. I'm getting confused here -- am I getting too much air and not enough fuel? I'm using 93 octane from Sheetz, although I have mixed different brand gas in the past few days because I drove to pittsburgh and that's all that was available where I was at... usually I use shell gas.

Anyway, my friend said the readings were normal, but I guess I'm still confused. Since I have that offroad pipe, can that cause strange readings such as "system running too lean?"

Thanks guys!

Do you guys think sheetz gas is crap? I'm starting to think it might be that. I didn't get that code until I put sheetz gas in my damn car.

The code that is coming up stating what bank is lean?

Those are some good numbers for your listed mods. I would guess 240 tops for the mods listed.

The TB will have a tendancy to make the car lean under 3k when going WOT but should level out after that. To throw a lean code you would need to be over 14 on the A/F.

I've never gotten those codes before. Anyway, it was lean in bank 1. We checked the levels with the reader and things were normal last night, so I guess I'm confused as to what's going on with it. Do I need to worry about this? Should I not drive the car until I fix this?

Nevermind, it was lean in bank 2.. two codes this time, just had it cleared. This was all running on sheetz gas. I just went and filled up (was near empty, light hadnt come on yet but was about to) with shell vpower and light hasn't come on yet.. hopefully it doesn't.

I talked to the guy he said it could be spark plugs or a rear 02 sensor going but to just bring it on up and he'll check the A/F ratio.

In light of all you've said, I'd run some injector cleaner through it ASAP.

Already done. Got me some Gumout for $3 at autozone and ran it through. We hooked the reader up to it and got a "test did not complete" message and therefore could not get an A/F ratio measurement. We believe an 02 sensor is going. Car has been running great once I put the shell gas in... I'm honestly thinking there's nothing to worry about and that the guesstimate with the 02 sensor is right on target. Damn things. It doesn't matter, supercharger is going on in a week with all new injectors, fuel pump, maf, etc. Then it's getting retuned. Any problem that was there will be taken care of by the tuner. Until then I'm taking it easy and shooting some pool and driving the jeep
