Default throttle

ok so i went of for a drive seeing as the weather was nice and i was 2 miles from home and the gas pedal went flat. I knew as soon as it happened that my throttle cable broke. It broke right up at the throttle linkage where it attaches to a pin. Is there anyway i can fix this or do i have to buy a whole new cable?

Some of the high-end bicycle shops have assortments of replacement cable end barrel fittings, for mountain bikes, that fasten with a set screw or wedges.

I have used them on throttle and cruise control cables.

how much can the length be changed before it affects the throttle action? does it adjust anywhere?

There's usually at least 1/2" to 5/8" "fiddle" room, so if it's just the barrel end that broke off you should be OK--it is not adjustable...

yeah i ended up getting a bike brake cable to work. I just need something good to hold it from going through the peddle connection and i'll be good. I fixed th exhaust leak and the bypass by leaking heater core. The car is almost running again. i hopefully will have some time tomorrow to finish up
