Default Throttle lag?

Hey guys, sorry for the newbie questions, and I'm sure there may be a sticky or two somewhere about these, but I've scoured for days.

So I just picked up a 99 GT, I've done a few visual mods to it, and it already has a K&N cold air intake installed (although the filter is practically gray), but I just wanted to see if any of you had any ideas about the issues I'm having.

One thing I've noticed, and this could be the norm, is that if I gun the accelerator (in neutral or at idle), I'll get a stutter/lag before the engine torques up. You can hear the air rush through the throttle body, that's all normal obviously, but any idea about that sputter/lag? I thought about getting a replacement TB/plenum, just for more performance, but I'm still NA at the moment. Furthermore, is a spacer worth it?

Second, I've got a major belt squeak, but it could just be time to replace the serpentine belt. Any of you guys done this yourself on the 4.6L model? I've done it on other cars, just curious I guess.

Thanks for the heads up, and it's good to finally be a Mustang owner after years of waiting.

I'd start with cleaning the filter and changing the fuel filter before you worry about those mods.
if you have done other belts before you can handle a Mustang belt. Mustangs are pretty easy to work on

Whenver I first purchase a used vehicle I change all the fluids (trans, engine, rear), put a fresh set of spark plugs and wires in, fuel filter, and air filter (if need be). Try the little things like this before buying plenums or throttle bodies. The serp belt is a very easy change on these cars as Bramas stated.

Appreciate the feedback guys. I've only owned it about a month, and I've been sitting around waiting on the Virginia DMV to send me my title because it was salvage (a bull**** rear end that resulted in a radiator/bumper swap.) I'm definitely going to change the fluids and the plugs, I'd like to do more but I'm on a budget. Swappin' out the COP's seems like its $300 at its cheapest (American Muscle). I'm definitely going to look up a few guides and try tackling these swaps. Again, I really appreciate the input. Like I said, glad to be a part of the community.

Take it easy.

Well, I know this is old news but, I finally got my plates and took it out for a spin and I noticed the gas was low. I filled it with up 93 and what a difference that made. Not only does it rev higher and easier, that throttle was reduced tremendously. That's what I hate about that grace period gas thats been sitting in it for so long. I bought a fuel filter so I'll throw that in, and I got some plugs as well so we'll see how that goes.. but just filling it up with higher octane helped a lot.. kind of obvious, I know.
