Default Motor Rebuild

I have a 2000 GT that currently has a spun bearing and broken rod. i was wondering if i got just a short block would i be able to put my motor bak together with the stock parts or would i have to get an entirely new motor. i have time so not worried bout it takin a long time. money ok but would rather build new motor if i abso had to. any Helpful info appreciated.

yes, as long as the piston with the broken rod did not contact the head, other wise you will also need to do a valve job. How did you spin the bearing,if it was caused by coolant mixing with the oil, I would have the heads check for cracks and warpage, and have the mating surfaces machined. But a short block will replace the components you stated were damaged. Good luck.

thanks, and not to sure how it happend but it happend slowly. started when i took a 2 hr drive in about 1hr 15... so yeah... but other than that idk but thanks for the help. if its that bad ill just rebuild the motor myself but above the heads should still be good regardless rite?
