Default KOEO/KOER tests on 4.6?

An owner of a 4.6 Mustang asked me what to do with a check engine light, I told him that my 5.0 has KOEO/KOER tests that allows you to find the fault quickly.

Is there such thing for 4.6 cars too? If there is, where can I find the box with connectors? I tried googling, but couldn't find anything useful.

tell him to take it any Chain Autoparts store and have it scanned for free. You need to plug an OBDII scanner into the port to read codes

Well, unfortunately we don't have that in Europe, and computer diagnostic is like 50$. Do they have only OBD-2? I have an EvoScan data-logger for Jap cars, but I'm not sure it will read the Ford.

Does that scan tool you have read and clear the CEL on the Jap cars if so it seems like it would be able to plug in with any OBDII port and read and clear the codes. My scan tool I have was advertised as a VW/Audi tool and I can plug it into any 96 or newer car that comes into the US and read the codes

I guess I will have to try, it's mostly for MUTIII and SMII protocols, the OBD2 support is kinda spotty. But if there is no KOEO/KOER box then there's no other way than to try.

There is no built-in "reveal-codes" (older WP users will recognize this) mechanism in the '96+ North American OBD2 Mustangs--you have to use a scan tools to query the codes.
