im probably gunna have the 2 pistons i pulled mounted like trophy's in a glass case. lol i told my wife and she gave me this look like "wtf?". was also considering having all the parts that were layed out on the board (pulled from the oil pan) mounted and framed.

motor is ordered, and as soon as i get my paycheck the 15th i'll be ordering a set of stockmod heads from MHS, with the stage 3 spring/retainer combo and some stage 2 cams.

have a fidanza 4.3 clutch on the way, and am considering getting the fidanza 1 peice billet steel flywheel, since its only like 130$ new. i swapped to an 8 bolt crank, so i cant just resurface my old one.

if i have the cash left over, i still need at the very least new brake pads up front. then if i can another slew of parts including koni STR.T's w/ coilovers, bumpsteer kit, FLSFC's.

skipped alot of stuff but from what ive read the stock PI heads (ported) arent going to restrict you until you are upwards of 615+ hp of course it will be easier to get to that point with other heads, but you can do it. maybe look into FORD SVO M-6049-D46 heads? in my book these are the heads used on their 615 hp engine and it says they are able to be substituted with ported PI heads.

i've been doing some research on heads, but havent come across the SVO heads, didnt even know there was such a thing, when i think SVO i think of the 2.3L turbo I4 from the 80's.

i cant find anything with that part number, the only thing i can find is with the suffix P46, which looks like its just stock PI heads, in which case i would rather just dish out the cash for the MHS heads, because they come setup (degree'd). then add in a set of cams, springs, and titanium retainers. all i gotta do is take em out the box, bolt em up and follow the directions they supply. plus they have a 5 angle valve job on them, and upgraded valves.

ideally im lookin for 650 to the rear. im thinkin im gunna hit other restrictions before i have to worry about the heads, such as turbine housing (still runnin the .68), injectors, fuel system, traction... so all in all, if eventually i can get to 600+, before the end of the year if possible, i'd have completed my goal.

EDIT: i found a post over on stangnet about the SVO heads, but it seems they werent built for boost or alot of ignition timing, they flow better but the plug was moved away from center line so they dont burn as good, which could cause a problem with detonation. the intake manifold also needs to be port matched.

Heads are ordered. Stage 1 MHS PI heads, with the stage 3 spring/titanium retainer upgrade, and stage 2 turbo cams. decided on stage 1 vs stockmod because of the flow charts i was looking at, and i finally got paid from a trip. luckily Nick had a set that were waiting for a home because a customer changed his mind and wanted something more, so i grabbed them up. didnt go stage 2 because the only difference is stainless steel valves which equates to only like 10CFM, and i figure i'll have other restrictions like the intake manifold/throttle body/plenum before i need to worry about valves...

now all i need are all the gaskets from oilpan to intake gaskets, a flywheel (either ralco rz or F1 racing chromoly, or fidanza 1 peice steel), fidanza 4.3 clutch (the place i ordered the last one from called and said that they went back order and all they had were 26 spline's left), and other associated stuff such as ToB.

hopefully i can have everything ready to put in by mid february. then its off to the backend for suspension upgrades!!
