Default Gearshift Illumination Bulb...Location?

No illumination when lights are on under the gearshift lever ( automatic...2000 Mustang GT). Pulled the trim ring....can't see anything. Before I pull the console out, is that the only way to get at it? I assume it's probably a 194...Thanks for any help ( I did search 1st).....Jeff

Thought I would share this info. I pulled the trim around the shift handle, unplugged the traction switch and cig. lighter and got that piece out of the way. Took the 4 screws out of the console and unplugged a few connectors and took it out. You can then get at 2 torx screws on the bottom left of the shift bezel. Take those out and pull it straight up. On the bottom left of that you will see the socket. Turn it to remove the bulb holder and inside is a standard 194 bulb. CAUTION!!!!!!! lift the bezel very gently. The plastic strip inside the bezel that moves back and forth with the shifter...has the red on it also....is really easy to break. I managed to break mine, and of course you can't buy the plastic insert....but Ford sold me a new bezel for $47.00 bucks!......Live and learn....
