More description of said noise? Does it go away when you press in the clutch? Could it be making that noise above 2500 rpm and you just can't hear it because of your exhaust/engine noise?

sounds like a grinding/rattling noise but nothings grinding...yea goes away when i let off the gas or push the clutch in or the car isnt under load..i highly doubt it because its pretty noticeable

I've discovered a similar noise with my Mustang this summer. I haven't driven it much in the past year, so I don't really know why it's doing this... but my father has been driving it so there's not telling what he's done to it.

My car makes similar a noise described, but it does it in like certain RPMs through each gear. I'm not sure if boduke's is doing this as well. For example, 1st gear it makes the rattle/grinding noise from ~2500-~2750 and 2nd from ~2800-~3050 and 3rd from ~3100-~3300 and so on. It's staggered throughout gears. It does not grind when shifting, it shifts as smooth as it can. It stops making the noise when I engage the clutch (press the clutch in) or go rev pass the certain RPM range. The clutch isn't slipping to the best of my knowledge and it doesn't appear, to me, that there is anything wrong with the clutch itself.

I haven't been able to really look into this as my car is at home with my folks and I've been away at school. I asked my dad what he thought it was since he use to be somewhat mechanical and he "doesn't hear the noise". My girlfriend freaks out when she hears the noise, so I know it's not just me hearing "some noise".

I've tried searching other forums, and it seems like no one has any clue what this noise is. They all suggest it's the clutch, flywheel, throw out bearing, etc. etc. But, it seems like replacing those things doesn't resolve the rattle/grinding noise. I'm very interested in what is causing the problem. I don't mean to hijack boduke's thread, I'm just having a similar issue.

I know the answer....For what it's worth I had a similiar noise in my 97 Cobra. It was very noticeable when going slower under load like up a hill. I replaced the clutch a few months back and the noise is gone. We looked at the old clutch and could not see anything wrong. All I know is the noise is gone!!
