Think its a fuel pump?
Hello to all, gotta new member here with a prob. Car is mostly stock, just intake/plenum/TB and full exhaust engine wise. Starting bogging the other day and then just died. Car cranks just fine but won't start anymore. I don't hear the fuel pump coming on when i turn the key so i think thats my problem. However i want to be sure before i shell out the money an drop the tank. Any info on how to make sure the fuel pump is my problem or any other ideas if not? Thanks for any help or info.

Becareful for your eyes.
Or you can run a fuel pressure test with a gauge and that will tell you.
Also check the fuel pump fuse

old school way have someone knock your tank with a hammer while your tryin to start...but if you dont hear the wine of it then thats your prob whether its a fuse or pump...there easy to change if your gonna do it yourself

I HAD THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I took the fuel filter off, sprayed fuel pretty good, fuel filter was not clogged, you could see right through the thing. Must have been an air pocket or something. Since it wasn't clogged i through it back on and prepped to drop the tank, figured why not try one more time... i never had another problem out of the car. worth a shot... two clips and a clamp.

i havent had to deal with this on the stang yet, so im not sure if the mustang has a relay for this, but i had to replace the fuel pump relay (not like a fuse, cuz you can't really tell if its blown or not) on my f150. be sure to check/replace the easy stuff first before jumping to the conclusion that the fuel pump assembly needs to be replaced

The connector for the fuel pump is behind the bumper. Check to see if it's getting power. If it is, your fuel pump is most likely bad. You have to drop the tank to get it. Check the grommet where the filler neck goes into the tank. If this is bad you have to go to the dealer or order it online. Good luck, this is not the most fun you will have with your Mustang.

awesome info guys thanks very much! Def gonna do the work myself...anytime you can save on shop labor an learn the skills yourself ya know . Gonna start from the top here and work my way down, starting with the fuel rail suggestion fr Repzard. Would really be nice if it was only a clogged filter or fuse lol...but ive done a pump replacement on an 87 B2 once and this sounds familiar. Thanks again to all for their input...time to get to work on er' hehe.
