Question My Cobra's having clutch issues.

Ok, so here's the issue. Earlier today my my clutch pedal went "limp" (for lack of a better word) and I was unable to engauge any gear. After letting it set for a while I went to try it again and am now able to enter the gears, however the pedal itself remains very weak, requiring perhaps 1/3 of the pressure it used to operate.

My question: What could cause this?

My first thought is that the cable has fallen out of adjustment. I say this because there was no noise or smell , so I assume the clutch itself as well as the TOB are stil ok. I'm going to get it up on some ramps and see what I can see.

Anything else I should check?

The cable could be getting bound up on something, are you running an aftermarket quadrant and adjuster?

I had a similar issue once. I was running a (the) stock cable and an aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster. Every time the car would warm up the cable would bind and wouldn't allow me to disengage the clutch. I would let the car cool down for a few hours and everything would be great for the first 10 minutes and then it would happen again.

I just replaced the clutch cable with a new FoMoCo cable and I was back on my way.

pull the dust cover off the tranny have someone press the clutch while you watching you might see it loose...also move it with your hand to see if your clutch pressure plate or tb is waisted...unhook the cable and move the fork around and just look at it it should be fluid movement

Thanks guys. Checked the cable first, all seemed good to go so now I'll go ahead and do what Blackvenom advised. most likely I'll just go ahead and change out the clutch and TOB ($220 for FRPP stuff from AM) just to be sure, seeing as I don't know how long the old ones have been in the trans. Is there anything else I should look to do while I'm messing around in there?

pilot bearing is cheap an could be changed along with your rear main seal if it seems alittle moist...check the clips on your clutch fork make sure those arent worn out too
