Default Is 100k Miles too many miles to install Supercharger?

Hey Guys, I have an 03 GT with 98k miles and I want to install SC. I plan on going with a used intercooled Vortech. How well do the 4.6 hold up if it WAS NOT ever raced or driven hard. The engine runs well and just needs a tune up. I would assume, its best to get it dyno, to see how the engine is doing.

If i did install a vortech and keep it to a minimum boost, how many miles can i get out of the engine/SC combo? I do not race, it will just be a weekend toy. I want the power but im not gonna be driving it hard often. I dont have the $ to forge the lower and I dont want to spend $$ on basic mods that wont get me over 300hp. I want 370-400hp at the flywheel and I will be happy.
Thanks and any info would be appreciated.

I installed my supercharger with 120k miles on my car. I now have almost 160k miles on the engine with 0 issues. Honestly, every engine is different but if you had 400 hp at the flywheel you would be around 340rwhp and it should be very reliable.

If the vitals of the motor check out its no different than supercharging with 50k.

Cool thanks guys. I was right about to trade my 03 GT in for a 05 GT and after test driving the 05, I dont mean to sound lame but i didnt feel a big difference in power, and my 03 hasnt had a tune up or any mods to it at all. I can imagine if i add a CAI and Tune, i think it would feel the same in power. I wanted to upgrade becus the 06 has a nice body style and more HP but I can live without it, especially since I have couple more payments and my 03 paid off.

It feels different with the weight and other factors but its a bit quicker just heavier and larger than th new edge. Build that new edge and have fun with it.

Do you think my 03GT with pulleys, CAI and tune would be just as fast or perhaps keep up with the S197 stangs with no mods? Just curious, otherwise i may have to go buy the 05-07 I been eyeballing.

The 07 I test drove had a loud exhaust, do you think that could have affected the lower rpm performance? Maybe i should test drive one thats a stock GT? Sorry for going off topic.

add a midpipe and gears and its a drivers race on the quarter mile. the new edge bone stock is Possibly a 13.8-13.9 car with a superb driver. Im not the best driver and with cai, midpipe, 3.73s, and tune with a speaker in the trunk I raced two different s197s at the track beat one to the mark and the 2nd one got me right before we crossed the line but when they close in they start closing in kinda fast on ya. And there trap speeds were quite higher than mine. But in both of those races I got both of them off the line no problem it closed in about half track or more. As far as the thing with exhaust and power loss or gain im just not going there on this forum anymore. but s197s respond better to bolt ons though. But to answer your question with those mods the newer one would still have more power but your car will be lighter he would have the advantage in a way but it would be a drivers race. Supercharge what you have and then there would be no question unless you smoke the tires trying to launch it.
