Default no pull

Hey guys, I have a 2003 Mustang with a Paxton2000 SC. See my sig. I ran her to redline to about 122 mph, then at redline I shifted into 5th, and nothing happened, no pull, nothing. I actually started to lose speed, even though I had it floored. What do you think the problem is? I've been told that I should of run her up to 155-160 mph in 5th. I don't like having basically a 120mph car, my wifes Camry is faster than that. Let me add that it pulls like a **** up to 122 mph, than 5th gear and nothing.

Maybe someone limited the speed with a tuner?

OK Blk003GT, but your sig says you have a turbo, does it pull in 5th? And to the other poster, I checked with my tuning guy and there is no speed limiter. Before I had her S/C'ed, and with the stock 327's, I had her up to 140 or so.

I seem to remember with the stock tranny n my blower I was really hard pressd to gain mph in 5th

when I put the turbo in I went with a built t56 so I had it up too 160mph with some to spare in 5th and never got into 6th

put 4.10s in her and you got pull in 5th gear however you max out 4th gear depending on your rev limiter and tire size at 111 mph. Which is why I got 3.55s with my setup with plenty of pull in each gear except 5th. I get to 130 in 4th

FYI my new G37xS pulls harder than my Mustang at speeds faster than 130. Why do you need to go that fast anyway?

I would love to twin turbo and lower my G it would be the ultimate.

That sounds like a good idea.... Thanks bro. I hear ya about your G37xS. It's crazy. Hey, with your 3.55's, do you get ANY pull in 5th?? I don't get ANY. And if so , on a scale of 1-10, 10 being a ton, what number would you say?

Hey op you have manley rods and pistons up your boost, it wont make your car pull in 5th but it will pull harder own low so it may be a compromise.

But op 5th gear is basically like a over drive for the auto's its not made to make power its made for you to just cruise around. When most people with mustangs take their car to the track they only use gear 1-4 they dont shift to 5th

I don't recommend 3.55s unless you got a KB or very high RWHP. With my previous setup was 410 rwhp with 4.10s it was an animal just need to shift gears all the time. My car does pull nicely in 5th gear at high speeds but nothing crazy as it is an od gear.

I have have stock 3.27s gears they suck. I had 4.10s with various setups 250 rwhp, 370 rwhp, and 410 rwhp it was great setup.

Going to 460 rwhp or more - for me 3.55s are the perfect choice 3.73s would be nice as well.
