Loctite or to not Loctite
Hello Mfers.
Quick question.
Im in the middle of installing my new clutch in my Cobra and this seems to be a big question with mixed answers.
Is loctite needed on new FRPP flywheel bolts.
If so...what color blue or red.
I hear red is a strong hold and my have a hard time removing them when it comes time to replacing flywheel again.
blue loctite no so much.
Can someone tell me if any is needed at all ,if so what color to use.
Thanks Repzard
BTW..Job is fairly easy , but that damn starter was a pain getting to one of the bolts.ouch

I decide to use the blue loctite and torque bolts to 75 FLb
That should be fine ,tranny is going back in tomorrow.
Thanks again for your opinion

red indeed....you will need that POS tool to break the bolts lose at a later time, anyhow. Just be carefull and don't pull a HERCULES and snap he bolts. When I had my Mustang S/C"ered a while ago; I kept blowing out sparkplugs; especially #5. the one in the very front near the grill on the drivers side. The last time it took ALL 4, count em',ALL 4 threads with it. Needless to say, I was PO"ed. What was Ford thinking when they put only 4 threads in each sparkplug hole? I was looking @ some serious money to repair this mess; so I took a chance and spend 5 hours in my driveway installing new sparkplug sleeves in cylinders one thru five, mind you, Without pulling the head. It was a PITA, but I took my time, reamed out each cylinder correctly, then gooped up each insert with a sh*t **d of good ole RED loctite. I screwed in each insert to the recomended torque specs, let her dry almost all the way, then screwed in the plugs. Everything went as planned, and I am no genious. I really think I just got exremely lucky. Now I have 5 0f 8 cylinders fixed; and with about 12 rather than 4 threads; I coulded be happier. The good thing about the #5 cylinder is it's the only one that comes out in 5 minutes, so it is super easy to check my plugs for wear. Paxton2000 manual says to change out the plugs every 10K miles; I did that for awile but found out it wasn't needed; I now change them out every 20 - 30K miles. Red Loctite is one of mans greatest inventions, and it saved my *** on numorous occasions. Stick with it buddy, it is an invaluable addition to ANY toolbox. Sorry for the long winded response, but I just hadda get my point across. Peace Brother Mustang enthusiest, and the best of luck, and skill, that you may require.
