Are the front calipers of a 1996 GT interchangable with a 2002 GT?

Hey is it ok to use the stock master cylinder from a 96 on the 02 calipers? I was told I have to swap the master too or else it will be spongy because the calipers are larger. The masters look identical to me is it really necessary?

Thanks

No need to swap the master cylander out.I didn't when I did my swap and my pedal doesn't feel spongy. My car does stop quicker now.Make sure to upgrade the brake lines to stainless steel ones, that will help with any spongy feel in the pedal.

Great thank you for the response. I didnt think the master swap would be necessary. I already ordered all my parts, I didnt get stainless lines but I think the rubber will be fine for a daily driver.

Thanks guys
