Bought track wheels tire question...
Alright I have 275/17 eagle f1's with 03cobra wheels on my car. I recently bought 2 more cobra wheels for track use. I'm debating whether to go with BFG's or M/T ET street radials.
The only time i'll be using the tires is to and from the drag, so nitto's are out. I've been leaning towards the M/T's.
The most important question; I know you cant give me an exact number what what am I looking at in launching 3500-4000rpms? I cant hook at all with the f1's. I have an almost stock GT. And am I at risk at breaking anything (rearend) launching with the DR's? I clearly dont have that much power yet and in the future ill need to upgrade the rear end. However as of now I cant break anything while im in school.
Thanks

You wont break anything unless something is already worn past repairable tolerances. I raced 275/60/15 BFG DR's and launched at 5000 to the rev limiter and never broke traction and never broke my GT. So I think you will be safe.

ive been once with my 275/17 MT ET Street RADIALS and i have 4.10's
i dumped the clutch at 4K and bogged
so youre not going to spin unles you dont heat them enough (like i did with my 5K laungh, spun and got a 2.4 60')

they are good tires from what ive experiance, but is it just me, or do you get pulled around a bit more with dr's on teh rear than with normal street radials???

All my friends use both brands, between my camaro and mustang friends there really is no diffrence honestly, I personally use the micky thompsan, I dont race track though, we run on streets with VHT compound.. but yea there both really good, so i guess what ever is more affordable... im sure one has better flexing ability but i never noticed somone loosing the hole shot because they had one or the other.
