Default Comp Cam Question

Does anyone have comp cams here? I was wanting to get some and would like information on what you thought was the best size to get in terms of intake/exhaust duration. I know that a 234 Intake and 238 Exhaust would hurt my bottom end, but how bad if i didn't get gears. Or should i opt for the smaller 226 Intake and 230 Exhaust, or will that not help my top end enough. Thanks for the input!

Call Comp's tech line and tell them what mods you hav and how youplan on using the car, they will give you a good idea of what will best. In a street car or one you plan on driving alot, it's best to err on the small side when picking a cam/cams. Also alot of people I talked with are not happy with the result of their cam swaps in the 2v motors, it's alot of $$$ for not alot of hp

My advice is to figure what your long term plans are for the car and wait untill you are ready to commit to a port and polish,turbo/super charging,or nitrous. Then buy the cams that suit the intended purpose.Buying cams first and changing your mind later just costs $$$$ that you can't get back.Nobody buys used cams for what new cams sell for.If you have already figured that out I agree with JD1969,call the cam grinders and listen to what they tell you,it's not in their best interests to start people on wild goose chases. If they do,they end up on these forums so that everyone knows what poor customer service they have.

i got talked out of doing mine. From what i heard the power is not worth money unless you get heads to and then get a dyno tune which starts adding up the bill. I say just spray

I just talked with a tech from comp, and he said with cam and tune i would get 10-20 hp at the wheels. He also said that with a .550 lift, there is a possibility that if i over rev, i could hit my valves with the piston. Soooo, i am kinda undecided at this point.

not good. For the cash of buying and installing cams and getting a neccessary tune, you can get more HP from other mods....

Well looking at your sig and the mods that you have you can spend a little bit of money on other bolt-ons and then decide after you are a full bolt-on car what you want to do, weither it be a S/C, turbo, or stay N/A. And then you can figure what you want to do as far as heads and cams go. I am at the point that I am going to add a set of stage 1 heads, headers and cams to my car and then get it Dyno tuned. With all that I am hopeing that I will break 300 rwhp.

Thats the problem cam swaps, after buying the two cams and springs, gaskets and a tune your at over $1200 and thats if you do the install yourself, and you only gain 10-20 rwhp, to me thats not enough to justify the hp per $. I would wait untill you have every other bolt on and then see where your at.
