Default Intake getting wet question

Hey guys so ive noticed over the last year whenever i drive through a big puddle or get a car wash water will get in my intake and my car will be boggy for a while and shoot codes until the water dries up (sometimes not until the next day)

how can i prevent this?

is my car missing the underside fender lining? how can i tell if it is on there or not? are there any good pictures describing it?

also is this an expensive part? and if i bought one are they hard to install?

i am kind of tired of this happening, especially since i am still using the stock intake.

Its a peice of cake to put the plastic inner fender in it just attaches with plastic push pins, if your sucking enough water into the intake that its screweing up the MAF i would get it fixed asap as thats not really a good thing, your miss may actually be water getting up into the plug wells rather than the MAF though.

OK thanks! Is the part actually called mustang "inner fender"?
Know any good places to order this? Maybe my local Napa or oreilys would have one

Its referred to as the splash guard, I would just get one online.

It is refuted to as both “inner fender” and “splash guard”. rockauto.com*has new ones for your year ride and they have them under “inner fender”. Good luck...

Yeah, inner fender or splash guard. I got one for $13 at a local auto supply shop. My brothers 02 GT had the same problem. Filter was soaking wet, replaced the filter, changed the plugs (it was time for new ones regardless of it being necessary or not), and reset the codes. Ran like a champ
