Lowering Springs for the Convertible
My lower control arm bushings are shot and the struts are going south in a hurry also. So while I'm tearing the car apart anyhow, I thought that now would be a great time to lose the 4x4 stance our cars are famous for.
I know there have been multiple threads asking this question and I have looked through the search results but I still have to ask for input before I drop the jing.
I want to maintain an OEM ride but lower it a bit without having to add the caster camber plates or any folderol.
Which springs do you suggest and why?
I appreciate your time.

fastbackford351,
The key to keeping a comfortable ride on a lowered Mustang is making sure you have a quality set of struts/shocks. They'll make the biggest improvement in comfort, but also performance! We have a huge selection for your particular Mustang that will work. Let me know if you have any questions about a particular setup!
There's a lot of wheel gap to make up with these SN95 Mustangs. You can easily lower the car 1-2" without any ground clearance issues, however you'll need caster/camber plates. These J&M CC plates work perfectly and are one of the most affordable options out there.
As far as springs go, I'd stick with either Eibach or H&R, since they both make springs particularly for convertibles. Again, there's a few different routes that will work here, so look around!
Hope this help some! Let me know if you have any questions.

Not trying to jack this thread. But i also have read a lot of threads. And all of the springs selection everyone suggest.Lower the car 1-2 inches or more. I am like fastbackford351 i would like to lower my car. But not 1 inch or more , because i do want the OEM ride. And the improvement in comfort with the ride. And i do not want to add cc plates. So ( AMShaneLesky )what is available for mustangs owner like us.

Lowering the car 1-1.5" in and of itself does not make the ride rougher, that comes from the springs and shocks/struts. To get the same feel, you have to have springs with the same ratings.
Even though CC plates are highly recommended when lowering the car, they are not always necessary. The converse can be true too... sometimes CC plates are needed even with a stock height ride.
Jazzer has an excellent write-up covering suspensions, and he is considered a suspension expert around these parts.

Ford Racing B-springs are you best bet for height, at least. They have the highest ride height that we have available with an aftermarket spring. As far as ride comfort, that's more affected by the struts/shocks you choose.
With these B-springs, you can get away with camber bolts instead of Caster/Camber plates. However it's still recommended that you use CC plates whenever lowering a 79-04 Mustang, since the factory suspension has little adjustment.
Let me know if you have other questions!

I just got done tonight actually about an hour ago with finishing off my suspension. I am running Eibach pro kit & MM CC Plates (been on for 8500 miles) and some other suspension mods including j&m lca, steeda bump steer, steeda x2 ball joints, new sway bar links, new control arm bushings and oh yeah Bilsteins all the way and removed top isos in front only. And i must say car now handles like it is on rails and it was snowing out with wet roads and my baby winter tires and the alignment is awful! Cant wait to get an alignment done and sticky summer tires on it! I was thinking about selling it but not now!
And op a little word of advice dont attempt the control arm bushings yourself i work at dealer and press was too old to do them i had to send them out to have done. do ball joints and bump steer while you have it all out!
