typically they just give you a check to do it yourself. They either want 3 estimates OR they already have a 3rd party company do the estimates.

if they ask YOU to provide 3 estimates then go to the most expensive place in town. Get your money and buy the bumper of your choice.

Try to get a nice hood tooo.

Only if you plan to pay the offset if its already at a shop. The cobra R bumper is about 100.00 more than the GT, then have it prepped, painted and fitted. Not to mention the other stuff that's been damaged in your accident under the skin.

You are not going to get the insurance to pay for it. Yes it can be replaced, but you will have to pay for it out of your pocket. You may get the body shop to cut you a break on painting it, since they are already painting other parts.

Don't go trying to pull a fast one to get your Cobra bumper, it isn't necessary. I have taken the opportunity after getting whacked to help facilitate upgrades on my cars in the past but I paid the difference between what the insurance company agreed to pay and what the upgrade cost.

The insurance company is going to cut a check to make you whole and nothing more. How you spend that money is up to you. You do not even have to get your car fixed. You could take the check, cash it and keep your broke dick bumper if you wanted to.

Just tell your body man that you want a Cobra bumper and pony up the difference. Don't try to get over on the insurance company.

yeah no way they will do that. Their goal is to put your car to pre-loss condition. Of course they will owe for the cost of your GT bumper if warranting replacement, labor, and refinishing...but the difference between a GT bumper and cobra bumper will be out of pocket for you. good luck

op, after going through this with my magnum, I suggest accepting a check from insurance and finding a cobra bumper yourself. really the only cost to you is the bumper cost difference. The shop is going to paint a bumper anyways, no matter if its a gt or cobra.

I upgraded my rear bumper to the GT/CS after a guy backed into my rear bumper. Small scratch and the repair was estimated at $831. So what I did was accept a check from the guys insurance, bought my bumper for $330 and had it installed and painted for $250. So I got a better bumper and extra money.
