Default oil leak question

I got my oil changed at a place about 1000 miles ago(hated to do it b/c i always change my own oil), but i recently moved and didnt have the time or any place to change it. I don't think my car was leaking before that. I noticed a small leak coming from around the oil filter a few days later, and it got a little worse as a few more days went by(started to have blow back on the bars and sheild under the car)......so, i changed the filter and the problem seemed to have stopped. I drove about 2-300 miles with no problems. Now it's basically doing the same thing again, it's leaking with a few drops under the car, but seems to be getting worse again, so my question is did i happen to by 2 consecutive defective filters(Motorcraft), or is there something else i could look for? Cant see any leaks from the top of the engine, so before i crawl under the car again, do ya'll know of any particular things i could look at? I 've figured it's coming from somewhere around the filter and filter housing or something else in that general area. Thanx.

if it stoped with the filter change even temp it sounds like you still have a filter issue.
its a long shot but did you check to make sure the gasket came off with the the filter. it happens but most of the time when the gasket stays with the car it gushes oil.

Yeah, i thought it was a double-stacked gasket the first time, but when i pulled it off their wasnt another gasket on it, and the one on the filter was still intact.

I do have a question though, something i never thought of before until looking at it now, but is there supposed to be a little gap between the oil filter and the housing/adapter that it goes on? Where mine is screwed into the housing, the edge of the filter isn't touching the outside edge of the housing...is it supposed to? There's like an 1/8th inch gap there. Never looked/noticed if it was before.
