Unhappy Fuel Pump Problems

I started the car in the supermarket parking lot, then I heard some buzzing, kind of like when you prime the fuel pump, but always on. I drove away and didn’t think anything about it. I got home with an insane smell of burnt plastic/electrical wires, even some smoke inside the interior. Once I shut the car off, I started the car and it ran like crap. Tried a couple more times and now it won’t run. It cranks but won’t start. I don’t hear the fuel pump “buzz” when I turn the ignition, so the fuel pump isn’t working, but do bad fuel pumps smell that bad? Or is it something electrical leading to the fuel pump? Please Help.
EDIT: I was involved in an accident where my radiator broke and coolant sprayed over the engine, I don't think it was enough to cause an electrical problem, but it's been to a shop to get the turn signals rewired due to many burnt wires. Back to what happened today, the interior was smoking and it smelled VERY bad. I was told that since the fuel pump is sealed inside the gas tank, it can't be a bad fuel pump.

Please help a friendly Mustang owner out

Thanks

Is there any chance the crash damage got to the CCRM or any of its wiring? An accident could trip the inertia switch in the trunk, but that doesn't seem to follow the sequence of events in your post. Couldn't hurt to check it anyway though. The inertia switch would also be a good spot to check for power, just to see if there's any voltage making its way towards the fuel pump.

Any luck tracing down what was smoking up the cabin? Did any other electrical stuff stop working?

I ended up pulling the interior apart and found many melted wires (bare copper) under the carpet, it was pretty bad. I'm going to replace all the rear wiring probably.

Oh, fun. What caused it though? Oversized fuses?

I have no clue tbh, do you any ideas? The fuses were all the correct sizes though. I found out the previous owner had an aftermarket sub in the back, so probably that had something to do with it.

Hm. The oversize fuse thing was actually my best guess. I figured you were either going to confirm my suspicion, or reveal a much more obvious source of damage that would explain it (you did mention an accident, not sure how extensive the damage was). If there's any leftover sub wiring, that right there might be worth investigating...

The accident was just superficial damage (front bumper and fender), not sure if it would influence some bad wiring problems like this. I'll probably check the fuses again and see.
