Default MAF ?

What does it really do? And should it be one of my first things i do to my car? and if i got it how much is and is it easy to install. I have a 99 GT

gears is what I would do first..get 4:10's I have 3:73's and im going to change them this spring

You wont really need a MAF upgrade till you get deep into modding in my opinion. Get it after you have all your bolt-ons and just before you go get tuned on a dyno. The MAF measures the amount of air ann the density of it and adjusts timing and fuel from that. The MAF on a 01-04 models have the IAT sensor built into it. The 99-00 models have it sticking into the intake pipe just after the maf.

Unless you are running forced induction with bigger injectors a larger MAF is a waste of money.

It takes quite a bit to max the stock MAF.
