what about a 5.4 in a 02 GT?
i recently came along someone offering me a 5.4 liter engine out of a F-150 with only 26,000 miles on it. i am pretty sure the 4.6 and 5.4 are the same blocks, but i was wondering if anyone got involved with this motor swap before and has any helpful information. i kno the computer needs to be replaced, but other than that im not sure about any other mods needed for the swap.
thanks

RE: what about a 5.4 in a 02 GT?
i am doing that in my 96 GT. the blocks are not the same the 5.4 is 1.5" longer because of the added stroke. the 5.4 will fit but thats not the problem... the problems are finding a intake that works.. you can either use the 5.4 intake that is to tall so you need a 3" cowl hood(this is what i have chosen) or but the 4.6 to 5.4 addapter so you can use the 4.6 intake manifold($350 i think) but they dont help flow. the ECU needs to be reprogramed because the motor is not 18% larger so its actuall pritty expensive. i rebuild my 5.4 and i have about $2000+ in to it and i still need to paint my hood and get a dyno tune $400+ so if you want then go for it. you should pick up good torque but not that much Hp

Status: online the adapter for the 4.6 manifold to the 5.4 block is only for the dual cams not single cames so i had to cut my hood and put a GT scoop on my steeda hood
