yeah, thats why i took the 3.73. still gets up and goes, but more on top end for highway. Im not a strip guy or anything like that. But, if i did want a fast car, it wouldnt be a mostly stock stang w/ gears, it would be my buddies viper... whoooo, what a ride

RE: Bought 4.10's
There is a guy who made a video of his S/C'd 02' GT after getting it dyno-tuned. He was pushing 330RWHP and using 4.10 gears and taped his trip to the gas station.
Showing his reciept and his trip, he did the math. He was still getting 25mpg. It's all highway of course, and he most likely didn't get on it much. But the gas mileage is still there.

RE: Bought 4.10's
very interesting..... i have a 95 5.0 and only get around 18-20 and thats stock!! I have had 23-25 mpg before, that was just babeing it and didnt see the point of driving it that slow... there are much more comfortable cars out there for an "easy" driver. Maybe i just need a good tune.

you can't tell people that. even with actual proof like that, they won't believe it. they still like to jabber off all the hear-say that 4.10s and any new gear will affect your gas mileage on the highway. i get 24MPG with my vortech'd GT with 3.73s. i got 3.73s for the very reason being argued here, gas mileage. i listened to all the people who don't have gears but just spouted out what they've HEARD on the internet about gas mileage being a factor.

OHhh yeah, now i remember why i posted this post, i was gonna ask whats the break in period for these gears? I heard its like 500 miles before you can drive hard? True or False?

ACTUALLY you dont need to cycle anything, but the norm is to do 3 20 min cycles
if your unsure about anything, ask when you get them installed

RE: Bought 4.10's
that video is pretty interesting. Im not only concerned with gas mileage a little, but what about highway noise? For me, cruising around 85 mph on the freeway (which is everyday for me), my rpms would be like 28-3000.
