Are you people kidding... get the z06, my god. All the videos show that it takes about a 550rwhp to run with a stock one in an 03 cobra. The new fat pig (shelby gt500) is not going to be lighter.

Plus the z06 looks 1 millions better... put them side by side in person, the gt500 looks like a POS commuter car. I'll post some pics of NAIAS in a few days.

Oh also, the vette can go around turns.

LOL, yeah...when I first saw the Z06, it just took my breath away. The look, performance, interior...I mean everything about it just screams, "FAST and SEXY". When I first saw the GT500, i was like, "yeah, it's pretty sweet", but it just didn't blow me away.

As mentioned from the get go, the GT500 will be every bit of 550hp, so it will run with a Z06, and then run away from the Z06.
Fat Pig, as you so elegantly put it, weighs 3920 with the few mods mentioned giving it a modest 630HP you are looking at 6.32lbs per HP and the Z06 weighs 3130 with 505HP that equates to, 6.19lbs per HP, not that huge of a difference. And one of them has a backseat, Oh yeah, that automatically qualifies it as a POS commuter car. Sorry that some of us have lives outside of our cars, you know kids, carseats, golfclubs, etc.

Ain't that the truth. If it weren't for kids, we would still have the Mrs' 2000 S/C Mustang GT. Now, that I am financially in a better place, I wish we still had the Mrs' GT.

The GT500 is rated at 470 HP not rwhp. so you're looking at around 430ish at the wheels... still about 120 behind the number. Pulley swap, exhaust and intake will help. But exhaust and mild cam z06 has been already dyno'ed to be over 550 rwhp.

And i know the backsteat has a purpose etc etc... but if you're talking about an all out performance car with looks etc... which is what we are the gt500 doesnt even compare. Yeah with mods it can probably hang in a straight line... but this car overall is nothing in relationship to the z06.

I agree on getting the vette. The new z06 is basically insane, and an absolute jaw dropper. You guys can not tell me that the z06 doesn't look dead sexy. I saw a STOCK c6 z06 beat a buddy's 03 cobra with just shy of 600 to the wheels. Hands down if I could have one car for under 80k, it would undoubtedly be the new z06, go for it code.

For under 80k? You mean for 80k. I agree the Vette is a sexy looking car, with the Carbon Fiber fenders and such, it will definitely turn heads, but its not ****!ng on the GT500 like you were saying earlier, and everyone knows that Ford understates their power just like the 03/04 was supposed to have about 375 as first proclaimed, I'm sure the GT500 will be closer to the 500HP mark then they are letting on.

I don't think any of us really know how much hp this car is goin to be rated at or how much it's goin to have at the wheel, but one thing I do know is that they're basically using the same engine that was put in the 2000 Cobra R, which was rated at 385hp, I can't see this car making anything under 500hp at the flywheel. Even with the roots charger... If you take that engine put the newer engines + supercharger you're goin to make more then 115hp at the flywheel I would all but assume. To you guys that are planning on getting one.. haha good luck, and good luck paying that 45k, hahaha.
ford has anounced on their site that the bad boy cobra will weigh in at 475hp

however, i think this would be an understatement and would also be surprised if it
had any less power then 500+

The GT500 is good enough to out-power a C6 for less money... When they want to beat the Z06, they'll make a Cobra R.

The Z06 is a sick exotic sports car that is nearly on par with the Ford GT...
The new Shelby is an exclusive nostalgic modern muscle car that has an appeal all it's own.

One is not a replacement, or objectively better than the other. The two cars really ought to not be compared because they' re so different in style. Most car people would love to have them both.

I would without a doubt go with the Z06, not only do i think it looks better (personal opinion i know) but it also seems like it would be more fun to drive on the daily basis. And you could always take a little trip to Mr. Lingenfelter if you ever feel like you need more power
