Default 96 GT oil pressure question

Ok my 96 Mustang GT has almost 113,000 miles on it and starting today my oil pressure gauge has been some what on the low side. between the o and m oon the normal gause leaning towards the o. Is this bad? I put Castrol gtx high milege conventional oil 5w-30 in every 2800-3000 miles. Any ideas thanks Patrick.

Yeah i always put 6 in but it is wanting to stay to more of the low side instead of in the middle.

I have a 97 with 108 k on it, and mine stays right in the middle. What you could always do is install an aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge, which will tell you exactly what your situation is. Your stock sender may be bad, or the gauge itself. The stock oil pressure gauge is a 'yes/no' type gauge, it says you have pressure or don't. My aftermarket gauge tells me EXACTLY what it is, when the stock one just sits there. I have an autometer "phantom" series oil pressure gauge. No complaints, but, if you do get it, spend the extra bucks and use the copper line instead of plastic... mine has plastic and it always leaks by the oil filter where you clamp it into the brass fitting, it crushes too easily.

Does yours burn any oil? It's winter here and seems like the cold starts make mine chug oil. Didn't use oil in the summer. ::starts saving for motor swap::

peace
