If you can get a 02 TA with low miles for $14,000, I don't think you have a choice but to buy it

well these are my options, if i can find an engine and get it put in for under 3500 then i can keep the stang, or trade it in, see how much i can get for it and get a 2002 ws6 Trans am w/ 20k on it for 14995, should i keep the stang or go wit the ls1
That shouldn't be hard to do at all. If you're just going to trade it in, pick up a junk yard motor for a couple hundred and throw it in.

If you want to keep it, you have all kinds of options with $3500. All you honestly need is a complete short block. Those are cheap as hell. Look around. Ebay would be a great place to start. Mustangs aren't the only cars with a 4.6 2V around you know.

This would probably be more work than it's worth, but the price is right.

well i cant find any 03/04's for under 3500

BTW, sidewayz, if i got a junkyard motor or just a working 2v 4.6L, how much do u think a motor swap would cost, becasue the stang drives fine right now just makes the knocking noise, oil pressue is fine, temp is fine, the only thing is its doin that becasue of the wriste pin being broken in some way. The only reason i want to buy a new car is because the high mileage on mine isnt really worth building up.

I raced mine here and there at light but i never really beat the hell out of it, i drove it normally most of the time, only used the best of oil, best gas, and then that happens, this is why im hesitant to buy another 4.6L unless its a cobra, or just a cobra motor...

I still dont know if im going to buy a new car or just rebuild mine, the only problem im having with the rebuild is that my car already has 95k on it, that means that my suspesnsion, brakes, clutch, tranny are starting to wear (acording to the dealership) so im thinking im going to buy a car with 60k or less on it with a warranty..
I would put 0 stock in what a dealership tells you. In todays cars 95k is not that bad, givin good maintanance. Honestly you cannot tell anything about the condition of the motor untill you tear it down. If it's just on cyclinder it could be sleeved and honed, couple that with new rings and bearings you could come out of this for less than $2500. My rebuild cost $2500 and I did lots of things that cost extra (main studs, rod bolts, head studs, ASP pulley, alighn hone) all in all it totaled about $600 in extras.

Well I have a 1997 GT with 109000 miles on it. Only problem is the valve stem seals are startin to go (apparently a notorious problem on the 4.6s, because it runs absolutely perfect but burns oil) I plan to do these myself when I get the money for a few tools I need.

I run good regular oil (mobil oil from work) and a wix oil filter. Oil pressure is always good, and have never had any problem like you've experienced. And like everyone here, I guilty of letting the 215 crank HP fly sometimes! Usually I shift well before the redline...

I plan to buy another engine and rebuild it and swap... or swap in a crate motor... not sure, somehow college payments take priority to giving my car more go... lol... this is my project car that I am using as a learning tool on my road to master tech status! :-)
