when someone says that bottoming out can mess up your shocks if you car is lowered... what do they mean by "bottoming out"

Ok when you "bottum out" is when the bottum of your car hits the ground which can ruin your shocks, suspension etc, and also scrape your exhaust system.</P>

you would have to be driving like a complete ******* over a bump or dip inorder to bottom out them ... right

Yeah, people I think have two definitions for it; you just have to ask specifically what they're talking about. Your suspension can bottom out from no travel, but the car itself might not hit the ground. Other people mean the bottom of the car scraped the ground on something.
