Electric water pump pros and cons...
Well i was looking at some ways to pull some more power out of my 98 gt before I buy my nitrous kit, and saw that the meizer water pumps claim a pretty nice gain of 10-15hp. I've heard that these wont last as long as regular water pumps, and i'm not sure what all is involved with the install. So if you have one or know anything about this part let me know.

pros: better cooling at all rmp ranges even when the motor is off. frees up hp.
cons: not the best thing to have on the street they just arn't as reliable and give no warning when they do go out.

What Tim said plus:
Pros: Less accessory drag on the serpentine belt system. Frees up 11 rwhp on a N/A car and should do the same or better on a boosted car.
Cons: An electric unit will wear out sooner than the mechanical stocker. An LED or some other indication should be installed so that you can detect failure BEFORE you notice the engine temp start to spike. It might be a good idea to install a more acurate engine temp gauge. It may not work correctly if you underdrive the alternator.

if they could be easily swapped out id doit, like if i could keep a spare in my trunk and swap it in 30 minutes or something, thatd be cool. the led is an awesome idea along with the temp sensor. word is the pump itself is good for around 5k miles.

meziere claims that life of the water pump should be 70 to 100 thousand miles .....i think....just installed one and the installation was easy....hardest part is getting the old pressed fit pump off, you kinda have to be ever so gentle with a rubber mallet while you knock the s&*t out of it..... i got mine from brenspeed.com for $308 plus relay kit was included shipped to the door.
