RE: 99 mustang GT
If youre not worried about regretting every little horsepower you could have picked up further down the road
dont bother with headers, just get a new midpipe and catback exhaust
IF you want the headers, its anywhere from 350-500 for the install alone, unless youre willing to do one of the most difficult bolt ons on our GT's by yourself or with help.
You wouldnt have to pull the engine, but i believe i have heard people say removing the K Member as well as lifting the motor is on the "to-do" list while installing long tube headers.
If you are just wanting sound with a tad of power, ask around (or in this thread) about some suggestions for aftermarket exhausts.

RE: 99 mustang GT
not a problem man
like i said, if youre going to make the car FULL BOLT on car, then by all means dont skip the headers now just to have to buy them AND a new midpipe later
however, 95% of the people on here dont have headers on their mildy modified car, me for one
but i am VERY VERY pleased with my exhaust, though it would be intersting to hear the same set up with LT's

Of the average bolton work people do, nothing beats headers. And they will make more power with every bolt you add. Anyone that wants to add a blower down the road, or just wants more power out of a N/A GT should get headers.
Not only that, they sound WAY better than the stock manifolds.

RE: ALSANT99
I have BBK longtube headers and x-pipe on my 99 GT and I love it. It sounds way better then just the stock exhaust ( which is a Borla Stinger) and as for horse power, you will notice the gain instantly! I would also recommend to go long tubes but thats all up to you and depends on what you plan on using the car for. headers can definately get expansive, I had my LT headers and x-pipe installed at Colorado performance for $210 and dont regret a penney I spent ($210 for installation, $400 for headers, and $165 for x-pipe).

Go ahead and get the headers, long tubes if possible. If emissions testing is a requirement in your state Bassani mid-length headers are 50 state legal.MM&FF did a test with a pretty much stock 02 and got 17.4 hp and 17.5ft lbs torque. This was with a full Bassani exhaust w/cats.They sound pretty good too.

RE: 99 mustang GT
Headers are the number 1 power making upgrade on a N/A GT except maybe doing heads/cams work (and you will need headers anyway)

what i was trying to say is IF he's NOT interested in every bit of horsepower he can get, and only wants the car to sound better, then is it really worth the extra 500-1000 dollars? (depending on if he could do the install himself)
